After watching TV for a few minutes, Takeru decided it was time to go out, and so he took out his phone, formed Otome's number, then waited for her response:
"Yes, Takeru, what is it?"
"In front of your apartment building, right?" he asked.
"Yeah, gonna be there in a few minutes. As I told you before, I think you'll enjoy the movie."
"Oh, regarding that, what's the movie's name?"
"It's a secret, plus, Imma come out soon. See ya!" she said cheerly before closing the phone.
He got dressed in his winter coat, and once again went out in the city, preparing for what would soon become a date. The sky was now clear, but the snow was still covering most of the city's streets, through which he made his way to Otome's apartment, on the way thinking about the way his life has gone, and his future. By the time he got there, Otome was just getting out of the building, and when she saw him, she rushed to him, but fell headfirst into the snow, much to Takeru's amusement, who then knelt besides her, helping her stand up again.
"You okay?" he asked, kinda worried as he helped her take the snow off her clothes.
"Yes, thank you" she replied, as she began to blush lightly, before hugging him. "I haven't seen you in a long time, I was kinda worried something might have happened to you, but seeing you here, I know you're alright." She smiled.
"Y-yeah, me too, I didn't hear from you that much. The movie gonna start tho, we should get going, shouldn't we?" Takeru asked.
"You're right," she looked at her phone, at the time, and saw the bus come into the station, then grabbed Takeru's hand and began running towards it. "Let's go!"
They soon arrived at the cinema, minutes before the film started, they quickly ran to their seats, took off their coats, and began chatting about the film.
"So, what's it's name, after all?" asked Takeru.
"Something about a spy sent in the USSR or something. I just know the action scenes are among the best ever created." Otome said, looking at him. "It's beginning."
"Can I rest my head here?" she asked shyly, her red face being hidden by the darkness in the room, but not enough as to not be noticeable, as she rested her head on his left shoulder.
"Sure." Takeru said, trying not to sound scared, as this never happened to him, but he mustered the courage to hold her closer, to which she responded by snuggling into him.
"This sure did never happen to me." Takeru thought, as he looked at the movie. "What should I do? At least I know she's into me, and she's a nice girl too, after all we were good friends back then." She tried to get up, turning her head towards him, just as he tried to look down at her, their lips touched. Even though this was the first time for both of them, they didn't feel like breaking the kiss or anything, they knew they were to be together. After this, they kept watching the movie, albeit awkwardly, barely talking to each other, although their hands were always together.
When the movie ended, they decided to take a walk around the city's park. Although it was only 6 PM, the sky was already dark, and the lights were turned on. From there they could see the Shogun's Palace, regarding which Otome said:
"Someday I wish to become the Shogun."
"Why is that? You'd need to either be of an important noble House, or be chosen directly by the Emperor."
"I know, but I don't worry, it's just a dream. Although serving as a guard for the Shogun would be great too. I heard she's a pretty cool person, of course, not that conservative, and she brought many reforms to the Imperial Army in the years after she came to power." She leaned on Takeru. "Imagine us, you, the Emperor, and I, the Shogun, just like the current ones." She looked at him smiling.
"The idea sounds great, I won't disagree, but there's no chance I'll become Emperor, unless I am somehow a lost relative, and I know I ain't. But what about you?" He looked in her eyes.
"I know I am a relative to a minor noble house, which once placed a Shogun on the throne. So I may have higher chances of becoming Shogun than you." She giggled lightly.
"That's cool, although I don't want to become Shogun or Emperor, I just want to work as a naval architect. Whether for the military or civilian companies, that doesn't matter."
"But I see you are able to lead others tho, you would make for a good captain."
The weather started getting colder and colder as they kept talking, until Takeru said:
"It's getting cold, innit? How far is your home, I'll walk with you till there."
"It's okay, it's pretty far. You live nearby, what do you say if I sleep at your place, just for the night." She asked, while looking him in the eyes. Takeru couldn't control himself and kissed her, to which she hugged him tightly, making sure they were as close as possible.
"Sure" he said, trying to look cool, clearly the cold weather helped. They walked to his place, where they ate dinner together, watched a movie, and, while I cannot tell you what the last thing they did was, rest assured their first half of the night was full of action, and, as the laws of physics tell us, the latter half was full of inaction, sleeping a wonderful, deep sleep together, holding each other in their arms, with the words "I love you" visible on their lips. This was the night Takeru became a man, and Otome, a woman. They will enter the world together, but who knows if they will be able to achieve their dreams?
